Doll Wavy Ripple Blanket

Posted on August 28, 2015

Here is a small ripple baby doll blanket I crocheted. I used my wavy ripple blanket pattern and just crocheted a shorter starting chain. This wavy ripple pattern is very adaptable as I have made dishcloths using the same pattern and baby afghans.

The blanket measures 20 inches wide by 11 inches long. I would have made the blanket longer but I only had about 2-3 ounces of the old vintage variegated yarn I was using. It still worked fine for this 11 inch tall baby doll as a blanket wrap.

Doll Wavy Ripple Blanket Pattern
Using a J ( 6mm) crochet hook, chain 60 to start doll blanket.
Following the wavy ripple stitch pattern by working a double crochet (DC) in the 3rd stitch from hook (counts as 1st DC).

Wavy Ripple Stitch Pattern:
One DC, one DC, one DC, 2 DC Tog, 2DC Tog, one DC, one DC, one DC, 2 DC, 2 DC and so on until you reach the end. Row ends with 2 DC tog, 2 DC tog and then a DC in the last two stitches and in the top of the turning Ch-3. (Basically there are 2 DC in the last stitch as you have a DC in last stitch space and another in the top of the turning chain which other people have questioned me about. So to clarify, make sure you have 3 DCs in the end of each row before turning.)

Ch 3 and turn at the end of each row. Repeat the ripple stitch pattern until you complete 16 rows. I then single crocheted (SC) around entire blanket using white yarn.

Future explanation of rows: Each row begins with a Ch-3 and turn (counts as 1st DC). Then DC in the next two stitches, 2DC tog (together), 2DC tog, DC in each of the next 3 stitches, 2 DC in each of the next 2 stitches, then DC in each of the next 3 stitches. Repeat.

@Lara – I did a blanket 44 inches wide by chaining 145 for base row. Double crochet (DC) in the 3rd stitch from hook (counts as 1st DC). Then work a DC in each of the next two stitches. Then follow the pattern until it is long enough for your throw.

Would this be wide enough? Let me know if this will work or I would be happy to help you further.
