I am excited to present a new baby lovey that features a round ripple pattern. It has a centerhole which is created by crocheting around a thick ponytail hair tie. By crocheting the baby lovey with a centerhole, you can use a store-bought stuffed animal for the project. That way you can wash the round ripple lovey separate from the stuffed animal.

I want to detail how I start my round ripple lovies. I use a 2″ thick ponytail tie for the center and it gives a 1.75″ opening on 24 stitches. Here is a photo with the first round of single crochet (SC) stitches around the ponytail hair tie. I work 24 stitches around the tie as show and slip stitch to join.
My round ripple baby lovey is based off of Aggie May’s round ripple (RR) blanket pattern. After the 24 single crochet stitches for the center start, and following Aggie May’s RR pattern, work row 3: Ch 3, 1 DC, ch-2, 2 DC in same stitch as join. Then skip 1 stitch and work 2 DC, ch-2, 2 DC in next stitch and repeat. Join to top of ch 3. Total of 12 sets of shells. See photo below for a closeup photo of this round.
Our local Stitchers group was asked to make some baby blankets for the hospital nursery. I chose this bobble baby blanket pattern to crochet for the hospital charity. There are many different sizes you can make using this pattern. I started out by chaining 133 stitches using a H (5 mm) hook to begin the crochet pattern with a single strand of yarn.
Crocheting the bobbles for me was very labor intensive and hard on my hands. So rather than having bobbles every 4th row, I only crocheted two rows of bobbles on the ends of the blanket. The remainder of the blanket is worked in half double crochet (HDC).

I crochet this beautiful Margaret Square. I wanted to continue and convert it over to a granny stitch square to create a baby blanket. So here is my mini tutorial on how I converted this crochet square over to a granny stitch blanket.
Using a H (5 mm) crochet hook I slipped stitch over to the corner space and chained 3. Worked 2 more double crochet (DC) in corner and then chained 2, work 3 more DC in same corner space. Then skip 2 stitches and work 3 DC in next stitch, repeat this to next corner and work 3 DC, chain 2, and 3 DC all in corner space. Repeat around and end the row with a slip stitch into the top of the beginning chain 3.
The result is now an 8 inches square which you can just continue working in the granny stitch method. To begin each new row, just slip stitch over to the corner space and chain 3. Then work 2 more DC in corner, chain 2, and 3 more DC in corner space. After that you simply need to work 3 DC in
The moss stitch is a pretty crochet stitch that I used to make this little baby blanket. There are several versions of the stitch and I used the one below to crochet a preemie baby blanket for the 2014 NICU baby blankets for Christmas drive that Kathryn heads up over at Crochetville each year.
This was my first attempt at using the stitch and because I needed just a small blanket for the NICU babies, I chained 95 to begin using a H (5 mm) crochet hook. This resulted in a beginning chain about 22 inches long. Here are the details in US terms for crocheting a small baby blanket as shown using the moss stitch.

Row 1:
Slip stitch into the 3rd stitch from the hook and then *Hdc in the next stitch, slip stitch into the next stitch*. Repeat between * across the row.
I crocheted the Circle of Friends 8 inch square and just loved the pattern. I decided to use this pretty purple square for the center of my preemie baby blanket. After crocheting the 8 inch square in purple Berroco Ultra Alpaca yarn, I added a round using a light-colored lilac yarn by working double crochet (DC) stitches around the square. In the corner, I worked 2DC, Ch-2, 2DC in each corner space around. I worked one additional round in the purple yarn before finishing the basic portion of the blanket in the light lilac yarn. I ran short of yarn so I added the edging using a Red Heart pale plum yarn by crocheting my scalloped edging that I first used on my scalloped baby hats.

Here are one Easter craft projects that I have been working on. It is a blanket buddy that I crocheted for my newest granddaughter’s first Easter. I crocheted it using this blanket buddy pattern but with some changes which I detail below.
I used a H (5 mm) hook and crocheted with double strands of off-white Caron yarn. I did 20 rows on the blanket before I began the decrease portion. I know many people have said the blanket pattern as written was small so I wanted to make mine bigger. My finished blanket is 17 inches wide by 18 inches long not including the bunny head.
I used black yarn to do the face. I worked on the face for quite some time and while I’m not completely happy with it, I’m finally calling it good. At least as good as I could get it.
