Here are a few more baby hats that I have crocheted lately. I’ve been on a crochet hat-making craze.
Here is a closeup of the ribbed band crocheted hat pattern that I use frequently. You can find the free crocheted ribbed hat pattern here.
All of these hats were donated to my local hospital nursery for the new babies. I was pleasantly surprised last week in the newspaper when I saw
I crocheted this baby gift set using some of my vintage Von-Cott sport yarn that I had in my stash. I just love the shade of this sport weight cotton yarn.
The baby booties were crocheted using my cuffed baby sock booties pattern and the hat is my baby ribbed hat pattern. I did work a few extra increases until I worked the hat even on 56 stitches so my hat is about 14 inches wide.
To finish off the set I crocheted one of my diagonal baby bibs using this free crochet bib pattern. I did 20 rows before adding the trim edging row for the bib due to the sport weight yarn.
I have been crocheting purple baby hats for the PURPLE baby crying awareness campaign. PURPLE Crying is a program to help parents, caregivers and others understand this normal increased crying in healthy infants and prevent abuse such as shaken baby syndrome.
Details for the hat drive can be found here. They do ask that the hats be at least 50% purple in color and be simple with no straps or hanging pom poms etc.
Here is the baby size hat pattern that I adapted from the adult crochet hat pattern for this project. I have options in the pattern directions below for a 3-month old baby, newborn, and a preemie sized hat.
Enjoy the free crochet pattern and I hope you will support this is very important baby awareness campaign by crocheting or knitting a purple hat.

I love crocheting! I don’t know if you all know that but it’s true. I get caught up at times or as DH says obsessed with crocheting. I crochet with recycled plastic bags, vcr video and cassette tapes, and I crochet with t-shirts cut into yarn and I crochet with yarn. I’ll crochet with just about any material I can get my hands on. Anyway with that being said, I’ll share some of my latest crocheting.
I present my cotton candy baby set. The material looks like spun cotton candy as I used a strand of pink worst weight yarn along with a white fingering yarn held together when I crocheted these items. I followed my cuffed baby booties crochet pattern to make the booties. The hat is just a basic beanie and I added my scalloped crocheted edging to the hat to finish it off.
I just love these booties and the crochet pattern is free.
