A Mosaic design uses geometric patterns to create a unique look. This is my first Mosaic crocheted project. It is a Mosaic hat that is crocheted in two colors and has 3 row repeats.
The Mosaic hat pattern isn’t very hard after you get the gist of the pattern. The video found here was very helpful for me to understand how the stitches are placed.
I did have to scale down the size as it was way too big as written. I found that if I crocheted 70 stitches
Here is a new free crochet hat pattern to share. It is a basic double crochet bulky hat that can be crocheted using chunky yarn or 2 strands of worst weight held together. The pattern is simple and works up very quickly. Please enjoy my free crochet pattern!

This post presents my basic back loops only (BLO) hat pattern. As you may know, I crochet lots of hats for charity and wanted to have a basic crocheted hat pattern that is worked all in back loops only. The textured look of working all in back loops makes for a raised stitch line on each round.
It is my hope that you will enjoy this pattern and crochet a few hats for your charity of choice using it. So without further ado, here is my free crochet pattern for my back loops only adult hat.
Back Loops Only (BLO) Basic Hat Pattern

Hook: H (5 mm) US sized crochet hook

A few weeks ago I introduced the cable scarf pattern and just love this stitch pattern. I decided that it would make a great hat pattern also. I have crocheted this hat pattern using several different hook sizes. The I hook makes a ladies sized hat and smaller men’s sized hat. The J hook creates a large men’s hat. I crochet fairly tight so use the hook you feel is appropriate for your gauge. My gauge with an I hook is 2 inches = 7 stitches and 5 rows. Gauge with a J hook is 2 inches = 6 stitches and 4.5 rows.
This blue hat was crocheted using an I (5.25 mm) crochet hook.
Here is the same hat crocheted using a J (6 mm) crochet hook.
My Cabled Hat Pattern
I (5.25-5.5 mm) crochet hook = Adult 21ā cir by 9″ long
J (6 mm) crochet hook = Adult 22ā cir by 9.5ā long
Yarn – 3.5 ounces worsted weight (medium) 4-ply
Note: Ch 2 at beg of each round counts as DC.
Ch 71. Join to make a ring and making sure your chain is not twisted.
(You will be working in the round and not turning your work as you crochet this hat.)
Rnd 1
Ch 1, Sc into the 2nd bump loop in the back of the chain to create a smooth edge.
