Grey Ring Towel Topper

February 24, 2023 No comments yet

This project uses a recycled milk jug ring as a base for a towel topper. It’s a simple crochet idea that I created as I needed a ring to hang up a towel on a hook in my kitchen. So I used a milk jug ring and crocheted it onto my towel topper using a kitchen towel folded in half.

Here is a closeup on the crocheted towel topper.

Holiday Towel Topper

I picked up this pretty holiday towel at Family Dollar for just $2 dollars. It’s a nice thick towel that was just calling to me for a Christmas towel topper.

I crocheted this towel topper using the waffle towel topper pattern. I had some light weight misc yarn that was just the right shade of red. As the yarn was thin, I held two strands together to crochet the topper.

This towel topper is double-layered and requires no cutting or sewing to start the project. You simply fold over the towel and begin the towel topper along the top edge of the towel. I love these towels as they are sturdy kitchen towels and make for a lovely Christmas gift.

Here is a closeup of the crocheted towel topper which features a jingle bell for the button closure.

Snowflake Waffle Stitch Towel Topper

Need a quick and cute homemade Christmas gift idea? Here is a crocheted Christmas towel topper topped off with a jingle bell for the closure button. This is a double layered towel which requires no cutting or sewing and works up very fast.

Just fold your kitchen towel in half and use this picture tutorial to show you how to crochet single stitches along the top edge through both layers. I will admit that this one row of single crochet stitches is a bit tough but once you have the base row completed, your towel topper will fly to the finish.

The waffle stitch towel topper pattern is free and found here.

Year after year my homemade towel toppers are always popular with people and they make wonderful donations for charity craft fairs too. I have several other free towel topper patterns and you can check them

Bar Towel Toppers

Here are several Dollar Store bar towels that I have added towel toppers to. I love the thick and absorbent towels but they are a odd width to do a normal double-layer crocheted towel topper. I tried this first one where I didn’t fold over the towel and just crocheted the towel topper along the top edge. It makes for a longer kitchen towel and not sure if I like it or not. This towel topper was crocheted using the waffle towel topper pattern.

Next I folded the towel in half lengthwise. I then added a crocheted towel topper through both layers with the fold on the left hand side. This created a nice thick double layered towel but again I’m not sure about the foldline being on the side.

Here is a closeup of the crocheted towel topper which was created using the pointed handle towel topper pattern.

So what do you think about these Dollar Store bar towel projects? I’d love to hear people’s thoughts and

Towel Toppers for Charity

Crocheted towel toppers are an excellent charity item. They are quick to crochet and are a desired item for charity fundraisers. They also make excellent gifts.

I have several different free crochet patterns for making towel-toppers. Here is a link to all of my towel topper patterns.

The next few towels use the pointed-handle towel topper pattern. These dollar store towels which once you add the crocheted towel-topper, really make a nice handmade gift.

Another is one of the new Christmas towels at the Dollar Tree, which makes a great candidate for a towel topper as shown here. The jingle bell closure adds a bonus for a Christmas-themed gift.

Next is a Fall themed towel that I got on clearance.

Kitchen Towel Toppers

I crocheted several kitchen towel toppers last month for gifts. Now that Christmas is over, I can share them here on my blog. It seems that everyone enjoys receiving these handmade towels so every year I crochet a few of them for friends, co-workers, and family. I do try and not give them every year to the same people as I don’t want them to get tired of receiving them.

My towels are double layered as I fold the towels in half and then crochet through both layers to add the tops. The nice thing is that there is no cutting or sewing needed to begin crocheting the towel topper onto the towel.

Holiday Crocheted Towel Topper

I am busy finishing up a few last minute Christmas gifts. I love crocheting towel toppers and using holiday towels make wonderful gifts. Here are a few I crocheted using the double-layer method. You fold over the towel and crochet through both layers to create a useful kitchen towel and an attractive gift.

These were crocheted using the free pointed handle towel topper pattern. I added a jingle bell for the closure in place of a button.

These are fun and quick projects. You can crochet the complete towel topper in just a matter of a few hours. So if you are in need of a last minute gift, consider hand making a gift which will be long remembered after a store bought item.

Easter Towel Topper

I found this pretty Easter flowered towel at Shopko and turned it into a crocheted Easter gift. I folded it in half and crocheted a pink towel topper onto the kitchen towel.

I used the free crochet pattern called double layered waffle towel topper pattern. The only change I made was for the extra large pink button I added for the closure. Because it was so large, I chained 3 stitches for the buttonhole. I then crocheted a few extra stitches into the buttonhole on the next row to secure the large opening for the button. It worked out great and the button fits through the hole nicely.

I love this double layered, no cutting or sewing towel topper. They make such nice gifts and work up super fast. So if you need a quick gift idea, check out this crochet project.
