I received a wonderful box of yarn from an on-line friend filled with Red Heart Stripes yarn. There are about 6 different varieties of the Stripes yarn in the box. I started out using the Fruity Stripe colorway to crochet this first Mother Bear.
I use the Mother Bear Project seamless crochet pattern and crocheted all in the BLO for each of these bears. I also played around with the skein to avoid using the yellows and golds which I saved for the next bear.
Next came Anna Mother Bear using the yellow and golds in the skein. Anna bear is sporting a pretty fuchsia shell skirt. Here is the free Mother Bear skirt pattern I used for her skirt.
Here is the final bear crocheted using the leftover Fruity Stripe yarn from the skein for the body of the bear.
Here is my latest Mother Bear I crocheted with a hoodie. This bear was crocheted for the Mother Bear Project and features a hood with ties. My original Mother Bear hoodie pattern did not include ties. Another Mother Bear crocheter on Ravelry, TeaLover, added ties to her bear’s hoodie after crocheting my pattern. I just loved how the ties turned out. It is like a built in scarf and looks so cute on the hoodies she made. So with her help, I added ties to my hoodie pattern too.
It is real easy and the ties are crocheted right onto the hoodie before finishing off the project. Here are the changes to make to the original pattern to add the ties. First don’t finish off after the last row, chain 25
I am crocheting teddy bears for the Mother Bear Project and have some extra clothing ideas to share. I sent for the crocheted seamless bear pattern and found the pattern very easy to follow with lots of opportunities to make variations on the bear’s clothing. A group over at Ravelry is having a KAL/CAL for the Mother Bears and there are some amazing ideas being shared over there if you’d like to check it out. Here is the link to the group.
After seeing another crafter make an adorable hoodie, I knew I just had to make a bear with a hoodie too. If you knit there are instructions for the Bears in the Hood found here but I only crochet so I had to improvise and create a hoodie for my bear.
So after a little trial and error here are the pattern details for a crocheted Mother Bear hoodie.
