As many of you know, I’m really into creating basic patterns that are easy to make. With that in mind, I set out to create some crocheted fingerless gloves. I love to work in the round, without joining or seams if possible. So here is my basic and very simple crocheted fingerless glove project.
After making this basic crocheted pair of fingerless gloves, I decided that I would try adding a bit of a thumb to it. Below is the pair of gloves that I crocheted with the optional thumb.
The second pair of gloves were crocheted just a bit smaller by only doing 40 rows of ribbing and 40 stitches along the edge for the body of the glove. This resulted in a 1/4 inch smaller cuff and finger opening area. I mention this as a way to show that this pattern can be adjusted for smaller hands by just reducing the number of stitches on the ribbing. Likewise, you could make larger gloves by just increasing the number of stitches of the ribbing when you begin the pattern.
Each pair of gloves use just one skein of yarn and do work up very quickly. As always, I hope you enjoy my free pattern and happy crocheting to all!

As you may know, I love basic and easy crochet patterns. So I set out to crochet myself a basic winter cowl scarf that I could wear to keep me warm. Not only can this cowl scarf keep my neck warm, it also can double as a hooded scarf.
I just love this crocheted cowl scarf. It’s is simple to crochet and works up fast. I hope you will find this pattern useful and let me know if you have any questions as you work the free crochet pattern below.

I wanted to share my recent crocheted chain stitch scarf project. Chain stitch scarves are nothing really new but I wanted to try out the technique and post the results. Here is my first crocheted chain stitch scarf.
The finished size of this scarf is 5 inches wide by 6 feet long. I did a total of 20 rows. I would have crocheted a larger scarf but I only had a half a skein of each color of vintage sparkle yarn. One skein was a solid blue and the other was a variegated white to blue skein. The 6 foot length is a youth sized scarf and 7 feet is a more suitable length for an adult scarf.

I have been crocheting helmet hats for the troops. After using a few different patterns, I tweaked my own basic pattern and thought it might be helpful to write out the crochet pattern for everyone’s free use.
These helmet caps are designed to only come to the edge of the ears. If you want a longer hat or a cuff, repeat round 6 a few extra times for a longer hat. Then add the 2 rounds of single crochet for edging trim. The two rounds of single crochet add a nice tight trim for the hats.
I only chain 2 for the beginning of my rounds. I find the joining seam is tighter this way. Here is the back joining seam. You can click on it to super size it. If you prefer you can chain 3 but I think by just chaining two, the seam looks better.
As always please enjoy the free crochet pattern below!

I present my crocheted neck wrap scarf. It is crocheted in the round and just slips over your head. As shown, it can be worn up over the chin and nose. It would make an excellent neck warmer and face warmer for winter and for snowmobiling.
You can make it smaller and larger as desired by just adjusting your beginning chain. I have made several of these and found the snugger fitting ones work better for staying up on the nose. You can wear it just around the neck but this scarf gives you the option of pulling it up around the chin and nose to keep you extra warm.
This is a very quick and easy project that uses less than 3 ounces of worst weight yarn. These neck wrap scarves make excellent gifts and would be a great Christmas gift too. Enjoy the free crochet pattern below.

Here is my finished pair of pink and grey crocheted plarn sandals that I have been working on for months. This truly has been a labor of love and recycled craft challenge to get these completed. I posted my progress with this plastic bag project over the last several months. I crocheted the plarn sandal soles and improved on the pattern I used in the past for making recycled plastic sandal slippers.
I present the free crochet pattern for these recycled plastic sandals below. These can be used at the beach, around the house and garden, or even as shower sandals for college students. For larger or smaller sizes, just add more or reduce the stitches to your beginning chain and crochet the tops wider too as needed.

I’ve been busy lately crocheting more hats for the Warmth for Warriors group. One of my on-line group friends crocheted a cute hat using a ribbed stitch style that I really liked. After some help from Ellen, I finally got the pattern created. Below is the written crochet hat pattern that I created featuring the ribbed band that was inspired by Ellen from our Ravelry group.
The two-toned wool hat is my favorite using the crochet pattern so far. I used the pattern below and at round 7 switched from the olive green to the oatmeal colored wool yarn. Then you alternate every other round in the two colors ending at round 20 with the olive green yarn. I carried the yarn not in use behind by just dropping it at my joining slip stitch. When you come back around you just pick up the dropped color at the slip stitch.
At row 21, I began the ribbing with the olive green wool. Make sure you use the same color in round 20 that you use for the ribbing so the first round of ribbing matches that you are working the front and back posts around.
Here is another version of the ribbed hat and in an extra large size. This one is crocheted all in one color and was designed more as a helmet cap to fit under a soldier’s helmet. I started with 16 double crochet (Dc) stitches and only went to round 15 following my original crocheted helmet hat pattern. I then added the ribbing rounds to complete the hat. It measures 23″ for a circumference and is 8-1/2 inches long.
As you can see you can change up the pattern’s fit and look by working in half-double (Hdc) or double crochet (Dc) stitches. And by working in stripes or all in one color of yarn. I have also included changes to crochet this hat for a child’s head size.
Have fun with the pattern and as always happy crocheting to all.

Here is my first attempt at a recycled t-shirt yarn hat. I did a little trial and error to get the hat so it fit comfortably on my head. Here is the finished hat that I crocheted from recycled t-shirt yarn.
Here is a photo of the hat taken flat. It’s a comfortable bucket type hat that could be worn to keep the sun off your head and face while fishing, in the garden or at the beach.
