Crocodile Baby Bib Pattern

Crocodile Baby Bib Pattern

One of my goals this year was to learn the crocodile stitch. I watched several you-tube videos on the stitch and while there are a few different variations, the stitch is generally crocheted the same. Some people work a chain stitch between scales and others end the rows a little differently.

Here is a quick and simple little crocheted baby bib pattern I came up with using the crocodile stitch. If you are learning this stitch for the first time, you may find this instructional post and video helpful as you learn the stitch. The crocodile stitch is easy once you get the hang of working the base rows and scale rows. I hope you enjoy crocheting the baby bib pattern and working the crocodile stitch.

Crocodile Stitch Oven Mitt

Crocodile Stitch Oven Mitt

I created this oven mitt by crocheting the crocodile stitch in the round. Working the crocodile stitch in the round is so much easier than making two panels to join together. While the oven mitt is very thick with the crocodile scales, I did line it just to be sure that a person’s hand was protected.

I have the free crochet pattern written below for the crocodile stitch oven mitt. If you haven’t tried working the crocodile scales yet in the round, I think you will enjoy crocheting this pattern. Please read the complete pattern through before beginning and adjust the opening should you need a larger size as my wrist is small so I made my opening tighter.

Special Stitch:

Cuffed Baby Sock Booties

Cuffed Baby Sock Booties

Here are my crocheted baby booties that feature a cuffed top. I did a variation of the original slipper sock pattern by Sharon Klinsky that can be found on several different crochet sites.

There is a wonderful picture tutorial of the original pattern over at Coffee n’Crafts blog site that I found very useful to understand the pattern. Just use a single strand of worst weight yarn for baby booties that will fit a baby up to 6 months old. For a preemie sized newborn, I used a smaller crochet hook and some sport-fingering yarn. If you are wondering, the creme-colored preemie socks shown below have a different stitch look because I turned the toe portion inside out before adding the ribbed heel. By reversing the toe portion, it results in a horizontal stitch look rather than a circular pattern.

Diagonal Baby Bib with Purple Trim

Here is my diagonal cotton baby bib pattern. It is a variation of my t-yarn baby bib I posted recently. I wanted to crochet a cotton bib and came up with this pattern after a little work. I wanted to create a pattern using regular cotton yarn as I know that not everyone wants to crochet with recycled t-shirt yarn. So I present the diagonal cotton baby bib and hope you enjoy working this quick crochet pattern.

Doll Bunting Pattern

Doll Stocking Cap

This doll bunting pattern was adapted and printed with permission from Sue Thomson who designed a baby bunting for a newborn. Her free crochet pattern can be found here. After re-working the pattern several times, I finally got the right fit for a baby doll that is about 13 inches tall.

I crocheted the doll bunting and added a stocking cap to finish off the outfit. The hat is more of a sleeping cap for this outfit but the crochet pattern can be used for any doll that has a 10-1/2″ head circumference.

Enjoy the free doll bunting pattern below and happy crafting to all!

Doll Stocking Cap

I designed this doll stocking cap as a sleeping cap for a baby doll. It fits a 12-13″ doll with a head circumference of 10-1/2 inches around. I wanted to share this quick crochet project as it’s a fun little hat to add to a baby doll clothing set. I crocheted this hat to go along with the doll bunting outfit I made for my granddaughter’s doll.

Doll Wavy Ripple Blanket

Doll Wavy Ripple Blanket

Here is a small ripple baby doll blanket I crocheted. I used my wavy ripple blanket pattern and just crocheted a shorter starting chain. This wavy ripple pattern is very adaptable as I have made dishcloths using the same pattern and baby afghans.

The blanket measures 20 inches wide by 11 inches long. I would have made the blanket longer but I only had about 2-3 ounces of the old vintage variegated yarn I was using. It still worked fine for this 11 inch tall baby doll as a blanket wrap.

Double Layer Towel Toppers

Red Towel Topper

I have been working on a project of crocheted towel toppers. I wanted to be able to create the topper without cutting and eventually not having to machine sew the top of the towel. Another goal of the project was to have a double layer 2-ply towel. Here is my first finished double towel topper below.

All photos are clickable to view supersized

Here is a picture tutorial and free crochet pattern below for making a double towel topper.

Fold the towel in half with right sides facing out. Machine stitch along the top edge using a basting stitch.

Then using some cotton blend sport weight yarn and a steel #7 crochet hook, single crochet along the top edge through both layers of the towel.

Here is another method I used where I did not machine stitch along the top edge. The steps are fold, press, pin, and then single crochet along the top edge of the towel through both layers.

Again I used a steel crochet hook #7 to poke the holes for the first row. Then I switched to a “G” crochet hook after the first row to finish the towel topper.

Finished no sew double towel topper which I call the fold and pin method.
